  • Before buying any tool, ask one question: does it write data back to the CRM automatically? If the answer is "you can export" or "it syncs nightly," your team will be reconciling two sources by hand.
  • For any AI tool you are evaluating, list every data point it generates. Scores, summaries, risk flags, recommendations. Map each one to a specific CRM field. If you cannot map it before buying, that data will live in the tool's own dashboard and nowhere else.
  • Ask the vendor directly: what happens to the data this tool creates? Where does it live after generation? If the answer involves a separate dashboard your team needs to check, that is another tab added to the daily workflow.
  • Run a quarterly stack audit. List every tool holding deal-related data. For each, note whether it syncs to the CRM automatically, manually, or not at all. Any "not at all" is a data gap your revenue intelligence platform will inherit.

(4) Targeting the wrong workflows for ai workflow automation

The instinct is to automate whatever causes the most pain. That makes sense until you look at why those workflows are painful.   • Track adoption and impact as two separate metrics. High usage plus flat pipeline metrics means the underlying data is not good enough for the tool to help (back to Section 1).   5. What are your current baselines for cycle length, conversion, and forecast accuracy?
  6. If someone asked "is this working?" in 90 days, could you answer with a number?

The gtm engineering teams that get value from AI are the ones that fixed these gaps first. The ones that skip this work end up debugging the same problems with a more expensive tool.
